The Inventor Mentor, Terry Murray, combines irresistibly cool spectacle with exciting hands-on engagement. His programs encourage questions and invites experimentation. This is a hands-on program that starts inside and ends up outside with rocket launching and giant bubbles. Ages 5+.Space in this event is limited, and registration is required. Children's Department
Our Read to a Dog program provides a supportive environment to practice reading! Reading to trained therapy dogs helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. Our canine friends are all wonderful, patient listeners who are looking forward to reading with you!During the summer our listening teams are scheduled for Wednesday mornings from 10:30 -11:30 in the Children's Department. Reading sessions last 15 minutes and are for children ages 5 and up.To register for a session, please call the Children's Department at 781-741-1405 ext. 1403. We hope you can join us! This class is for students new to chess. Participants will learn the basics of play during this five-week series (July 13, 20, 27, August 3 and 10) including how to set up the board, the rules of the game, understanding basic rule nuances, and the difference between checkmate and stalemate.Registration for this series has filled.
STEM Playgroup is a fun STEM program that introduces Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in a playgroup for preschoolers. Kids will have fun learning about the sciences in this fun, imaginative program, using the core components of STEM in everyday activities.
