    Our Read to a Dog program provides a supportive environment to practice reading! Reading to trained therapy dogs helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. Our canine friends are all wonderful, patient listeners who are looking forward to reading with you!

    During the summer our listening teams are scheduled for Wednesday mornings from 10:30 -11:30 in the Children's Department. Reading sessions last 15 minutes and are for children ages 5 and up.

    To register for a session, please call the Children's Department at 781-741-1405 ext. 1403. We hope you can join us! Our listening teams are looking forward to reading with you!

    Come Play Games! Choose an old favorite or something new! We have traditional board games like Checkers, Clue, Chess, and Apples to Apples. We have GIANT games including Connect Four, Sorry, Twister, Giant Jenga, Giant Dice, CandyLand. And we have lawn games like Cornhole, Spike ball, Croquet, Ladder Toss, and More! We'll also be serving snowcones, so join us for a fun family afternoon!

  3. Beginner Chess: Virtual Program with Nolan DeMott, ages 7+

    This class is for students new to chess. Participants will learn the basics of play during this five-week series (July 13, 20, 27, August 3 and 10) including how to set up the board, the rules of the game, understanding basic rule nuances, and the difference between checkmate and stalemate.
