The winter is the perfect time to organize and update your memories! Learn what conversion equipment the library has, both to use in the library, and to borrow. From 8mm film, vinyl records, VHS's, and more, we have a fleet of devices to bring your memories into the digital age. The showcase will also cover tips on ways to store your digitized media and get you thinking about what methods and formats would work best for you. This event will be held on Zoom. National Touring Musician Evan of Music at the Blissful comes to the Hingham Public Library for a fun-filled, interactive, movement-packed music experience for the whole family. Come join the fun as we sing, jump, shake, and laugh as Music at the Blissful plays songs off his new album "It's Me Evan!" and hits from his catalog. This is sure to be an action-packed good time for all.Space in this event is limited, and registration is required. To join us, please register online.
Family Fun Afternoon with Toys from our Storytime Collection. Some of the available toys are trucks, dinosaurs, DUPLO, blocks, and our recently donated puppet theater. This is a drop-in program and reservations are not needed.
This class is for students new to chess. Participants will learn the basics of play during this eight-week series (January 4 - February 22) including how to set up the board, the rules of the game, understanding basic rule nuances, and the difference between checkmate and stalemate. Each week of the series builds on the skills learned during the previous weeks' lessons.This event will be held on Zoom. This class is for students who are familiar with chess basics and are interested in instructional play. In this eight-week series (January 4 - February 22) slightly more advanced Chess principles and strategies will be introduced. Participants will learn by solving chess puzzles or playing as a team against the instructor.
