Junior Volunteer Program

Are you looking for opportunities to volunteer?  The Junior Volunteer program at the Hingham Public Library is a community service opportunity for children and youth ages 12 - 16.  The Junior Volunteer program provides valuable educational experience for young volunteers.

Children entering the seventh and eighth grade are invited to participate in the Junior Volunteer program during the school year.  Applications for the Junior Volunteer program for the 2008-2009 academic year are now available.  Pick up an application in the library or download one here.

During the summer, high school age youth may volunteer to assist with our summer reading program.  Applications for the summer 2009 season will be available in the spring.

Anyone interested in volunteer oppotunities should contact Gail in the children's department at 781-741-1405.

2008 Summer Reading Program - Begins June 23rd

This summer everyone is invited to help decorate the library with colorful jungle snakes and curious monkeys climbing tropical trees!

The Hingham Library summer reading program is great motivation to keep your kids reading during the summer months. Kids receive fun prizes for any reading they do. There are no specific requirements or commitments so it's easy to fit the library's reading program into a busy summer schedule.  Stop by anytime beginning June 23rd to join the program and pick up a calendar of events.

It's easy, it's fun, and it's free!  See you at the library!

Winter Time Saturday Stories

The Hingham Public Library is pleased to offer monthly Saturday morning story times during the winter months. Children ages 3 and up are invited to bring their parents and/or grandparents and join us for these special story times with teachers from the Lindamood-Bell Learning Center in Norwell.  Saturday stories are held the last Saturday of each month.  Please visit our online calendar for specific days and times.

Lindamood-Bell is an organization dedicated to enhancing human learning. They were founded in 1986 by Nanci Bell, Patricia Lindamood, and Phyllis Lindamood, the authors of critically acclaimed programs that teach children and adults to read, spell, comprehend and express language.”
