Library Graphic Design Center
The Hingham Public Library has installed the Adobe Publishing suite of graphic design programs on its G4 Macintosh. With the Adobe Publishing Collection 11.0, users can edit images, render effects, arrange layouts or create Portable Document File (PDF) files for cross-platform print or on-line distribution.
The design programs include "PageMaker 7.0," a versatile page layout program for professionals who want to create high quality publications, "Illustrator 10" for efficiently publishing artwork on the Web and in print, and "PhotoShop 6.0" for Web, graphic and photography pros who require outstanding productivity and advanced precision tools for image editing. The Adobe Publishing Collection is aimed at the experienced user and design professional; the Library staff does not provide technical support for this software.
The Mac
G4 also hosts Microsoft Office for the Mac. This software suite
includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The Mac G4, located on the
Library's lower level, is equipped with a high-quality color printer,
a flatbed scanner and Internet access. The equipment is available
on a walk-in basis, and users are asked to limit a session to no
more than two hours per day. There is no charge to use the equipment
but printing is fifteen cents per page.
