  3. Women Painters Through the Ages

    Please join lecturer Martha Chiarchiaro as she illuminates fifteen women artists throughout history. In this presentation, we will explore the highlights of fifteen women painters over the past five centuries. As a sampling, we’ll view the Tudor court paintings of Levinia Teerlinc, the drama of Artemisia Gentileschi, the glamour of Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun, the maternal paintings of Mary Cassatt, and the boldness of Georgia O’Keeffe. You’ll leave with a better understanding of the tremendous contribution made by women artists over the past five centuries.

  15. Boston Classical Guitar Society Presents: The Hampton Trio

    The Hampton Trio (Beverly Davis, classical guitar; Mark Davis, mandolin; Robert Margo, mandola) performs original music and arrangements for ensemble of mandolin, mandola, and classical guitar. Inspired by the groundbreaking work of groups such as Trio Nuovo (Japan) and Trio Chamorro (Spain), the Hampton Trio’s goal is to popularize and add to the existing repertoire for this instrumentation. In addition to their trio repertoire of arrangements and original works from the baroque to modern eras, the group’s programs may include classical guitar duos by Mark and Beverly Davis, and mandolin solos by Robert Margo.

    Our Read to a Dog program provides a supportive environment to practice reading! Reading to trained therapy dogs helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. Our canine friends are all wonderful, patient listeners who are looking forward to reading with you!

    Our listening teams are scheduled for Saturday mornings from 10:30 -11:30 - with some weeks held in-person and some via Zoom. Reading sessions last 15 minutes and are for children ages 5 and up.

This is a 45 minutes practice during which participants will experience breathing exercises, gentle seated yoga, and a guided meditation. Participants will learn practices that can be used anytime and anywhere to manage stress. No experience necessary!

    Paula is a Hingham resident and Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) 200 Basic Hatha and Pranotthan and a Certified Positivity and Relaxation Training Instructor. She infuses mindful principles based on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program designed by Jon Kabat-Zinn into her classes and has been teaching since 2011.
