    The HPL Book Club is a friendly group of library patrons and bibliophiles which has been meeting regularly for over ten years. We average 15-20 members each meeting and are always happy to see new faces. Whether you're someone who wants to meet regularly or just pop in when the title piques your interest, you'll always be welcome in the HPL Book Club.

    This month we're reading The Library Book by Susan Orlean. Copies of the book will be available to pick up at the Reference desk beginning July 6.

  3. Wild About Turtles! Virtual Show and Craft Program | Family Program

    In this virtual program, Mary Doane of Project Nature shares three live turtles with the group, including a tortoise, box turtle and aquatic turtle, and explores the habits and habitats of each. Registered participants will also create their own turtle using materials from home!

    Suggested Materials to have available: clay or playdough (about the size of a golf ball), small pebbles, beans, small buttons, sequins, etc.) to decorate the shell of the turtle.

    The Hingham Public Library invites children to an evening storytime. The interval before bedtime is the perfect time to listen and/or read a book. Plan to get comfy and settle in to listen to Princess Cora and the Crocodile by Laura Amy Schlitz. This chapter book will be read over two nights and each session will run for 20 to 25 minutes.

  6. Thursday Thoughts - Summer Writing for Fun! | Ages 8+

    July 29, 2021, 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM

    Thursday Thoughts was inspired by the founders of Two Writing Teachers and their Slice of Life challenge, which encourages us to notice the little things in everyday life.

    The goal is to write a weekly story about a notable moment and describe the experience with as much realism as possible. The program begins on July 1, but you can join at any time throughout the month. Each Thursday in July, you'll receive a few suggested writing prompts and themed writing paper via email. (Sharing your work is optional! But we would love to hear what you have to say.)
