Beanstack is a library service that helps encourage reading, especially for children. Access it through the Hingham Library’s unique Beanstack website or download the Beanstack app (perfect for families on the go) and search for Hingham. With Beanstack families can track their reading minutes and participate in related activities.
Signing up for an account is quick and easy. Get started here! If you have any questions, please contact the children’s department at email@example.com or 781-741-1405.
At the heart of the Beanstack model are Challenges. Within a Challenge, kids can earn virtual Badges (a reading milestone) and participate in fun activities, as described within the badge. The Hingham Library is offering three challenges. These challenges are based on age (3 to 5, 6 to 11, and 12+). The summer 2020 reading challenges will be available from July 6 through August 31. At the end of the summer, registered children and teens will be entered into a raffle for assorted gift cards.
Whether you’re reading to your newborn, are a brand new reader or reading is your lifelong passion, reading is for everyone. Reading during the summer keeps skills sharp at any age, and choosing their own books is a great way for children to grow their joy of reading during school breaks. Reading out loud to younger children builds a solid foundation for literacy. All reading is good reading, so read what you enjoy this summer!
Imagine Your Story is sponsored by the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The Beanstack summer reading platform is made possible by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners with funding from the Institute of Museums and Library Services and with the assistance of the Massachusetts Library System.
