Season’s greetings to you as we approach the end of this challenging year. As you know, we all have been forced to make alterations in our daily routines, and the Hingham Public Library is no exception. Our beloved Library has had to institute many changes in 2020, and it has made the best of this difficult situation. We fervently hope for an end to this pandemic and a return to our normal lives.
During this past year, the Hingham Public Library made significant adjustments to keep our patrons safe, while still supplying important materials and services that so many rely on. Our director and staff reacted quickly to adapt to mandated distancing, gathering, and safety protocols. In fundamentally changing how we operate, our library staff devoted great resources to a wide variety of electronic services, such as e-books and online programs for all ages. In addition, the Library has instituted a safe and effective circulation system for our more traditional physical items.
This year has been difficult in so many ways for both our library and community, and, together, we are coming through admirably. We are especially grateful to our excellent staff for their dedication in preserving the vital connection between our fine Library and you, the patrons, in these difficult times.
To reach our goal for a full and safe reopening in 2021, we are asking our valued supporters, as we do every year, to help the Library achieve this initiative. The Town budget is constrained due to lower economic activity brought on by the pandemic, and many of our regular library sources of funds also have been reduced. We thank you for your generous support in the past and hope you will find us worthy of consideration in your year-end giving plans.
With profound gratitude, the Library family sends you best wishes for a healthy and happy 2021.
