Long before there was a franchise, before there was a Yoda or a Mandalorian, at a time when Boba Fett was still a gleam in his father Jango's eye, when Luke and Han vied for the affections of Princess Leia and Emperor Palpatine was an unseen enigma, there was this pet project, a space epic fantasy conceived in the mind of a young, imaginative director named George Lucas. Most known at the time for writing and directing 1973's coming-of-age film American Graffiti, he threw everything he had into this vision which was predicted to be a disaster but became the top-grossing film of all time, a spot it held for five years. Join film speaker Frank Mandosa for a look at the conception, production, and lasting legacy of the 1977 original! No registration is required. Star Wars fans of all ages are welcome to attend this film history lecture.
