The Women & Money Roundtable: How to Make Sense of Today’s Financial Markets

This is a monthly financial literacy program designed to educate women of any age about the financial matters that affect their lives. Using easy-to-understand concepts, without financial jargon, the program provides information, resources, learning activities and moderators to educate and create a safe and welcoming place for women to learn, share their experiences, and ask questions.

A Paranormal Journey Over Land and Sea

New England is home to some of the most haunted places in America and you’re invited to visit some of them with a guide who’s been traveling those roads for twenty years.

Don DeCristofaro and the group he founded have spent nights in the house where Lizzie Borden may have killed her parents, the places where the real events behind immensely popular movies like The Conjuring took place and what most people in the paranormal field would call the most haunted house in America, the Sallie House in Atchison, KS.

But more amazing than any of their other accomplishments is their work aboard USS Salem at the Fore River Shipyard.

The Salem is considered by many to be the most actively haunted place in New England, and Don will discuss the entities who are still her crew, the effort to identify them and relationships forged with those entities.

The evening is a paranormal journey of the land and of the sea, and an experience you don’t want to miss.

Gentle Flow and Stretch Yoga

This is a beginner to advanced beginner hatha yoga class which focuses on the larger muscle groups with slower, thoughtful and accessible movements, mostly on the ground, combined with gentle stretching. The class also includes breathwork and meditation to help center and calm the mind to facilitate the connection of the mind, breath, body, and spirit. All you need is an open mind, yoga mat, a towel or blanket (to roll for support as needed), and water.

Read-to-a-Dog: Milo (and his partner Katie) are our listeners today | Ages 5+

Our Read to a Dog program provides a supportive environment to practice reading! Reading to trained therapy dogs helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. Our canine friends are all wonderful, patient listeners who are looking forward to reading with you!

Our listening teams are at the Library on Saturday mornings from 10:30 -11:30 in a quiet corner of the Children's Department.

Orris the rat lives alone in an old barn surrounded by his treasures, until the day his solitude is disrupted by a sudden flutter of wings and a loud screech. A small owl has gotten caught in a trap in the barn. Can Orris “make the good and noble choice” (as the king on his prized sardine can might recommend) and rescue the owl, despite the fact that owls and rats are natural enemies? And if he does, will he be ready for the consequences?

Start the new year off with a new crafternoon! In this workshop, we'll be making vision/dream boards for the new year, to map out all the wonderful things we want to do and be in 2025.
